In an effort to explain Voltage Security Assessment, you will first be shown the IEEE 14-bus power system as an example of a system which may perform well or poorly depending on its operating parameters. Using a very simple 2-bus system, we will then describe a secure and insecure power system with respect to load voltage. Furthermore, we will show you what types of problems may arise from such power systems and how they might be resolved.

Lastly, we will discuss both the SEEKS and Power Flow software; including what is to be expected of you and what you should expect with regards to the desired output.

The purpose of this project is to provide background information and therefore takes certain liberties with regards to the attached schematics and plots. Specific transmission line characteristics, such as temperature and resistance, are disregarded to create idealistic examples in order to explain Voltage Security Assessment within the confines of this web page.
