The one-line diagram above is the commonly used IEEE 14-bus
power system. Assuming that the generators in the above diagram provide
power within their rated capacity and the loads are such that they do
not overload their associated transmission lines, this system is representative
of a well-performing power system. To better understand how this system
operates under normal circumstances we will focus on a small segment of
this system, specifically 2 buses and their corresponding transmission
line.
