Here is a round up of what has been happening this week in EE:
1. This past week we received a donation of 18 new oscilloscopes and 18 new function generators from Tektronix to support our courses in signal processing and wireless networks. This generous donation from Tektronix is worth about $68,000 and will greatly help us maintain our hardware laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment. Prof. Jeng-Nenq Hwang and Bill Lynes helped make this donation happen. THANK-YOU, Tektronix!
2. You may have already heard about this, but on April 1st, the EE department robotics students unveiled their advanced technology trash can in Red Square to the amusement and befuddlement of many passers by. The team was led by Andy Crick. More information and a photo can be found here. I'll note that Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta already has talking trash cans, but I believe we are now the first to have trash cans that actively pursue their prey. Great going folks! This is a great example of the fine EE tradition of blending innovation and fun together!
Enjoy the weekend and the (continuing) great weather,
Robert Bruce Darling, Ph.D., P.E.
