B.A., Liberal Arts, The Evergreen State College

I began working in the Electrical Engineering department in March 2008, and in September 2008, I was hired to my current position. It has been a delight to be surrounded by hard-working, hard-playing, witty, boisterous, and friendly people! My previous UW experience includes the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, Department of Chemistry and the Center for Instructional Development and Research.

In my current position, I provide administrative and operational support to the Chair. I primarily organize and process academic human resource issues and appointments (hiring) for UW Electrical Engineering and maintain faculty personnel records. This includes hiring for post-doctoral Research Associates, visiting scholar titles, affiliate and adjunct professor titles, temporary teaching assignments, part- and full-time lecturers, temporary and permanent tenure track and research faculty positions. Additionally, I am the point-of-contact for UW EE faculty searches, manage and organize EE faculty promotion and tenure cases, and I supervise the front desk staff, reception area, and Administrative Coordinator (currently vacant).

I studied communication (journalism) and literature at Pacific Lutheran University, later transfering. I was awarded the Bachelor of Arts degree from The Evergreen State College, with (interdisciplinary) major area of emphases in Community Studies (social justice) and Consciousness Studies. My research and papers mainly focused on mentoring & youth development, civil and human rights, and meditation/consciousness (east/west psychology and mental health).  The most exciting and inspiring part of my research and studies at TESC was working as an Educational Partner with young men in state juvenile behavioral rehabilitation institutions, Green Hill and Maple Lane Schools.

Outside of work, I sit on the Development Committee and Board of Directors for Transitional Resources, a licensed, non-profit mental health center and residential program located in West Seattle. In addition to my volunteer time on the Board, I regularly practice Hatha & acrobatic partner yoga and meditation. I enjoy writing and reading (mostly non-fiction), gardening, kayaking, (parens), hikes, pranks, and playing around with haiku. And, I dig the occasional game of pinball. I anticipate completing a Masters degree in the future, focusing on community-based counseling to continue working directly in and with local neighborhood youth and families. I currently live in Fremont.
