B.A. Health and Human Services, University of Buffalo, 1993

While not born in Washington, I have spent the vast majority of my life here, starting at the age of six. I grew up and graduated high school in Olympia, and attended Washington State University in Pullman. My major was Economics, and while this field of study doesn't normally stir the imaginations of most people, I found it fascinating. However, most post-graduate work in this field involves a tremendous amount of math, which had little appeal to me, so I didn't continue schooling at that point. I do plan on returning to my education in the near future, with Computer Science or Business Administration as possible fields of interest. After school, I spent some time "examining my career options" (read: What do I want to be when I grow up?) while working some short-term jobs, including temporary work here at the UW (a Cougar among puppy dogs!). Eventually, this temporary work lead to a permanent position as a Fiscal Technician in 1995. I have held my current position in the EE department nearly two years, after spending about five years with Parking Services.

I spend a good deal of my time involved in athletics and outdoor activities. I have played team sports most of my life, including soccer, basketball, softball, and football, but I'll try just about anything. I also enjoy riding my bike, both as exercise and as transportation to and from work (it's easy, give it a try!). I also enjoy home improvement projects. My one collection of note is comic books, which I have enjoyed since my youth (some things you just can't let go!).

I leave you with a quote from the cinematic hero of the '80's, Ferris Bueller: "Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it." Excelsior!
