A Virtual Point Array for Parabolic Voltage Interpolation

Michael Warren and D.M. Wilson

A method of increasing resolution among a set of DC voltages is presented. The circuit utilizes analog computation to interpolate between voltages with varying degrees of curvature or shift. In comparison to digital computational circuitry, improvements in space and system integration are achieved. The array enables the creation of unlimited (the practial number will be limited by the resolution of these circuits) virtual points between real data points with little to no separation. Fits with true parabolic behavior have correlation coefficients R2 higher than 0.9999. Application to sensing tasks such as improving spectroscopic resolution of photodetector channel outputs are proposed.
