Abstract:

3GPP Release 8 specifications with the goal to provide higher bandwidth with low latency represent a milestone for mobile broadband industry. The specifications comprise of two components; the radio access called EUTRAN (aka LTE) and the packet core called EPC (aka SAE). The EPC based on an all IP network is targeted to support a wide variety of access technologies. In this talk an overview of the three year industry effort to define EPC will be provided.

Speaker Biography:

Farooq Bari is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Lead Member of Technical Staff at AT&T. He received his PhD from University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, his Masters Degree from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, USA and his Bachelors Degree from UET, Lahore, Pakistan (all in Electrical/Computer Engineering).
