Graduate Student Kevin Morrissey Receives DOE Fellowship

December 7, 2015

Graduate student Kevin Morrissey has received a fellowship from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), specifically with the Building-Grid Integration Research and Development Innovators Program, which supports research that aims to create more energy efficient buildings through the use of renewable energy.

The fellowship will fund Morrissey’s collaborative work with two postdocs in theRenewable Energy Analysis Lab, Tu Nguyen and Remy Rigo-Mariani, who are installing solar and battery storage assets on campus. In collaboration with their project, Morrissey will be demonstrating the use of the DOE-developed software platform “VOLTTRON” to mitigate imbalances in short-term solar generation using a battery storage unit.

Congratulations, Kevin!
