New NSF research center established at UW

eric_rombokasThe National Science Foundation today announced an $18.5 million grant to establish an Engineering Research Center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering based at the University of Washington.

The ERC/SNE is a multi-university partnership between the University of Washington, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and San Diego State University. The director for the center is CSE Professor and EE Adjunct Professor Yoky Matsuoka. EE faculty involved in the research include Jeff Bilmes, Karl Böhringer, Howard Chizeck, Maya Gupta, Blake Hannaford, Brian Otis, Shwetak Patel, and Joshua Smith.
