Professor Jandhyala Named an Inaugural Entrepreneurial Faculty Fellow

vikram_jandhyala2_editedCongratulations to Professor Vikram Jandhyala for being selected by the UW Center for Commercialization to receive the inaugural Entrepreneurial Faculty Fellow. Candidates for this honor were nominated by department chairs and C4C technology managers.  Interim President Phyllis Wise established the Provost’s UW Entrepreneurial Faculty Fellows Program in recognition of the value that UW faculty entrepreneurship brings to the academy, our region, and society. The program objectives include:

  • formalizing appreciation of entrepreneurial faculty
  • fostering entrepreneurial culture at UW by encouraging consultation and mentoring
  • increasing the number of innovations moving from lab to useful implementation
  • showcasing University of Washington researchers’ contribution to the regional innovation ecosystem and Washington State economy

Specifically, Jandhyala was recognized for the  transfer of technology developed at UW EE’s Applied Computational Engineering Lab and the formation of the successful venture-funded startup Physware, his close interactions with Tech Transfer in developing patents, copyrights, and software, his involvement with graduate students in understanding technology transfer. In addition, Jandhyala worked with tech transfer on panels and presentations, as well as the Seattle venture capital community. He will work with the UW, venture, and angel communities to provide leadership and advising on commercialization and entrepreneurship related to UW technologies.
