About the Grainger Foundation |
|
In 1999, The Grainger Foundation entered into partnership with the University of Washington and awarded $600,000 to provide merit-based Grainger Fellowships and Scholarships to power engineering students, and to bring distinguished lecturers and speakers in power engineering research, education, and applications to the University of Washington. The Grainger Foundation has made a generous new gift of $200,000 for scholarships and $700,000 for fellowships. The new gift together with previous awards brings the total contributions to $1.5 million. UW Matching funds of $350,000 solidify the program into a permanent endowment.
The goal of the grant is to attract exceptional U.S. students to the exciting and challenging field of power engineering in order that we may increase the number of graduates who are capable of not only having a significant impact, but also meeting the increased demand for skilled professionals in the industry.
The Grainger Foundation program is part of a multi-pronged effort by the University of Washington power engineering group that also includes the Electric Energy Industrial Consortium (EEIC) and the Advanced Power Technologies (APT) Center. |
