Shwetak Patel Receives 2013 NSF CAREER Award

shwetak_patelThe National Science Foundation has given a 2013 CAREER Award to EE/CSE Assistant Professor Shwetak Patel. His proposal is titled “New Systems and Tools for Residential Sustainability Sensing”.

From the proposal: “The goal of this multi-year research project is to democratize sensing for sustainability by developing a complete electricity and water sensing and analytics platform for homes. This research will make progress on two grand challenges posed by the scientific community: 1) accelerated deployment of ubiquitous computing technology for improving quality of life and 2) the reduction of residential energy and water consumption.”

CAREER awards are aimed to support junior faculty who “exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research, excellent education and the integration of education and research.”
