UW EE alum Dr. Steve White (BS EE ’85) has joined BluHaptics as VP of Engineering. BluHaptics is a UW EE and Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) spinoff, founded in 2013. The software company fuses 2D and 3D video in real time to enable precision control of robots and drones.
“Being in the undergraduate program was a great experience and I’ve always kept in touch with my colleagues at UW’s Engineering School,” White said. “It’s a real thrill to get engaged with and help guide such an exciting and cutting-edge technology UW startup as BluHaptics.”
After earning his bachelor’s degree at UW EE, White completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at MIT. White is the former CEO and founder of Technical Arts Corp., CTO of Msnbc.com and Microsoft partner architect. While at Microsoft, White oversaw the group that developed the Da Vinci imaging engine. White also is the cofounder of White Marsh Forests, which develops advanced statistical machine learning tools.
